Deborah Rayl, 63, of Green passed away January 23, 2017 after suffering a long battle with lung disease.  She was born December 31, 1953 in Akron to Bonnie Bowman and the late Donald Bowman.  Debbie was a loving mother and daughter who always put people first and was the person people could depend upon when needed. Debbie received her Bachelor’s Degree from Kent State University and her Master’s Degree from Ashland University.  Debbie shared her education with many in her life. She retired from the Green School System after a career that earned multiple awards and recognitions such as Teacher of the Year, the nickname from her students “my favorite teacher” and a legacy that will be forever remembered by those she touched.  Her passions in life were many, but the passions that moved her most were the ones that allowed her gifts to be shared: teaching, tending to her garden, and time with her grandchildren.

Deborah is survived by her daughter, Tara; son, Jeremy (Beth); mother, Bonnie Bowman; life-long friend Tim Rayl; grandchildren, Abbie, Cassie, J.J., Josie and Jacob; siblings Jim (Sue) Bowman, Susan Kay (John) Sausaman and Lisa Stephen as well as many other loving family, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. on Friday, January 27, 2017 at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd. (SR619), Akron, Ohio 44319.  Family and friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home.  Interment will be at East Liberty Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to Green Local Schools.  Debbie’s love for teaching will best be remembered with gifts that can be shared with the students she loved to teach.  To leave a special message online for the family, visit our website at www.schermesserfh.com.
