William E. "Bill" Burley

Bill Burley, 75, passed away on May 23, 2023.  He was born in Akron on February 6, 1948, to the late James and Rosa Burley. 

Bill joined the U.S. Army and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. When he returned home, he had several different careers but eventually made his way into healthcare.  Bill spent most of his adult life as an Occupational Therapist where he always made sure that his patients knew he cared for them.

Bill was a dedicated family man - a loving husband, father, grandpa, uncle, and brother. He was a man of strong faith and a very active member of Lakeview Christian Church.  Always one to go the extra mile or lend a helping hand.  Bill's presence will be dearly missed by family and friends.

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Mary; children, Alex (Nicole) Burley, Lindsey (John) Parker, Patrick (Lori), and Maureen Humbert; grandchildren, Maggie, Joshua, and Betsy Parker, Marissa and Olivia Humbert, Jake (Taylor) and Nick Keister; soon to be born, great-grandson Solomon Keister; brother, Chuck Burley; sisters, Mary Collier and Barb (Ron) Maraviglia; as well as many nieces, nephews and countless friends.     

Funeral service will be held at 1 P.M. on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at Lakeview Christian Church, 4613 S. Main Street, Akron, Ohio 44319 with Pastor Jim Gindlesberger officiating.  Family and friends may call on Saturday from 11 A.M. until the time of the service at the church.  Interment will take place at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.  To read more about Bill’s life and leave a special message for the family, visit our website at www.schermesserfh.com.
