Bill Stokes, 54, passed away unexpectedly in his home on January 24, 2021. He was born April 24, 1966 in Akron to the late Thomas Stokes and Judi Freshwater. Bill was a 1985 graduate of Kenmore High School, a 10-year veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, and a Sergeant for the Summit County Sheriff’s Office for 24 years as well as serving on the Norton Fire Department.
During Bill’s years in the Coast Guard serving his country he traveled around the world making friends everywhere he was stationed and in every port along the way. At the Sheriff’s office Bill was respected and always did his job well. Everything he did was with a passion to help anyone who needed him in that moment. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and brought life to any gathering he was a part of. He had a wonderful sense of humor and oftentimes was a master of pranks. No matter the situation he could always bring a smile to your face.
Bill is survived by his wife, Jennifer; sons, Bryce (Sara Morgan) and Aaron Stokes; daughter, Tessa; grandson, Cole Morgan; brother, Bob (Debbie) Stokes; sister, Traci (Jeff) Denny; uncle, Dave (Lynne) Andrews; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.
We are deeply saddened by the unexpected passing of Bill; he will be missed by many and was loved by all.
