Bill Fosnight, 82, passed away on September 16, 2023. He was born on August 24, 1941, in Akron to the late William R. and Anne Fosnight. Bill lived in Green, Ohio his entire life and was a member of the United Methodist Church where he served as an usher for many years.
After nearly dying from tuberculosis in 1975, Bill celebrated his recovery by buying a new Chevrolet pickup and driving his wife, Sally, and son, Bill 7,600 miles around most of the United States. Bill was always very thankful for his second chance in life and went on to visit Hawaii and Alaska with his family.
Bill began his career as an auto mechanic and enjoyed working on, and racing cars. He joined Goodyear Tire & Rubber where he worked in the Engineering Development Lab for most of his 35 years with the company. After retiring early from Goodyear in 1997, Bill appreciated having more time to visit auctions and flea markets where he and Sally collected and occasionally sold antique glassware.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Sally Fosnight; son, Bill (Terri) Fosnight; granddaughter, Annalise; as well as many friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1 P.M. on Friday, September 22, 2023, at Green Valley United Methodist Church, 620 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Road, Akron, Ohio 44319 with Pastor Harlen Rife officiating. Family and friends may call on Friday from 11 A.M. until the time of the service at the church. Interment will take place at East Liberty Cemetery.
