Wayne Cormany, 75, passed away on February 16, 2022. He was born June 21, 1946, in Canton, and was raised on the family dairy farm in Green. He was a 1964 graduate of Green High School, served in the Army National Guard from 1965 to 1971. Wayne married Paddy (Hileman) on October 5, 1968. Wayne worked at Acro Tool & Die, as a tire builder for B. F. Goodrich, and in the testing department at Michelin Tire, until his retirement.
Wayne loved to travel, visiting New England, the western United States, Alaska, Bermuda, Punta Cana, and most recently, Ireland and Scotland. He loved sports, building things, working on cars and trucks, and listening to the “oldies.” Wayne enjoyed camping and making “moonshine” and salsa for the Camping Club but most of all he loved and adored his wife, daughters, and grandkids.
In addition to his parents, Harold and Velma Cormany, Wayne was preceded in death by an infant son; brothers, Glenn (Jackie) and Bob (Helen) Cormany; sisters, Norma (Chuck) Richards and Dorothy (Bob) McGary. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Paddy Cormany; daughters, Cassie (Ed) Burgy, Colleen (Ted) Grabowski, and Kimi (Michael) Orlowski; grandchildren, Aurora, Brynne, Michael, Lexi, Brigid, and Maire; mother-in-law, Joyce Hileman; sisters-in-law, Kathy (Rod) Thomas and Missy (Richard) Sandy; brothers-in-law, David (Monica) Hileman and Dennis Hileman; as well as many nieces, nephews, and too many friends to mention.
Mass of a Christian Burial will be held at 11 A.M. on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at St. Matthew Parish, 2603 Benton Ave. Akron, Ohio 44312 with Rev. Michael Williamson officiating. Family and friends may call on Monday from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Road, Akron, Ohio 44319. Interment will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
