Viola Carson, 97, of Green passed away on December 17, 2022, after a long illness. She was born in Shawneetown, Illinois on January 11, 1925, to the late Alfonzo and Maude Beeler.
After High School, Viola moved to Akron where she became a “Rosie the Riveter” for Goodyear Aircraft plant D-3 making Corsairs and B29s. She married Glenn Williams on August 10, 1943. After his death, she worked for Green Local Schools as a cook. Later, she married Henry Carson on August 14, 1982. In her elder years, she had the long-time companionship of Marion Fox. Growing up during the depression years, living on a small farm in a small town, WWII, and her faith in God gave her the inner strength to persist through the long illnesses of the three men she loved. It also gave her the ability to recycle anything and everything.
Viola was a founding member of the Akron Mothers of Twins club, a long-time Girl Scout leader, and a Cub Scout Den mother. Gardening, sewing, cooking, crafts, and genealogy were her passions.
Besides her parents and husbands, Viola was preceded in death by her brother, William Beeler, and son-in-law, Lawrence Berkheimer. She is survived by daughters, Gail Darlene (David) Johnson and Diane Berkheimer; son, Thomas (Nancy) Williams; grandchildren, Linda (Steven) Turik, Tammy and Daniel Berkheimer, Heather Johnson, Jessica (Evan Clark) Williams and Kyle Williams; 5 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend thanks to the staff at The Gables of Green Assisted Living and Traditions Hospice for the wonderful care they provided.
Funeral service will be held at 2 P.M. on Friday, December 23, 2022, at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Road, Akron, Ohio 44319 with Chaplain Billy Kremer officiating.
