Vee Myers, 87, went home to be with her Lord on November 14, 2022. She was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania on January 6, 1935, to the late George and Elizabeth Haas. She was previously a resident of Johnstown Pennsylvania, Akron, Estero, and Bonita Springs, Florida. Vee was a 1952 graduate of Coventry High School. She began employment at the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company at the age of 17, retiring at 55. During that time Vee attended classes at Hiram College and graduated with her bachelor’s degree. After retirement, she worked as a secretary at St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Vee was a devout Christian and previously was a member of Calvary Bible Church, Brown Street Baptist Church, the Chapel in Akron and Green as well as Estero United Methodist Church.
Vee was an oil paint artist and enjoyed a variety of crafts. She loved traveling across the United States, Aruba, parts of Europe, and Mexico. Vee was an avid volunteer and had served as a Pioneer Girl Guide and served in many elected positions in the Salvation Army Auxiliary in Akron. She also belonged to the Women’s City Club of Akron and was an officer in the United Methodist Women in Estero.
Along with her parents, Vee was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Brooks and Donald Grimm; son, William Brooks; and sister, Nancy Raybuck. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Myers; sons, Jeffrey and Clark (Martha) Brooks; daughter Lori (Patrick) Haag; grandchildren, Amy and Felicia Brooks, Eric and Stephanie Brooks, Gina Brooks and Justin Neal, Amy Maynard, Emily Haag and Zachary Haag; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Kennedy, Rowan, Everett, Abigail, Nico, and Willow; sister, Beth Haas; step-children, Beth (Joe) Dorsey, Wendy Myers-Miller, Jeff (Kalin) Myers and Chrissy (Todd) Goldberg; step-grandchildren, Taylor, Olivia, Jordan, Grant, and Karlee; as well as many other family and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 3 P.M. on Sunday, November 20, 2022, at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Road, Akron, Ohio 44319 with Pastor Mike Castelli officiating. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 1 P.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home. A private family interment will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Park at a later date.
