Tom Blinco, 64, passed away on March 21, 2022. He was born December 15, 1957, in Niagara Falls, New York to the late Stewart and Jeanne Blinco and grew up in Lewiston, New York where he enjoyed fishing and trapping.
Tom excelled in sports, specifically, wrestling and football, was twice named to the All New-York wrestling team, and was an outstanding fullback and linebacker at Lewiston-Porter High School. In 1975, Tom was the recipient of the Connolly Cup, an annual award given to the best football player in Western New York.
Tom attended The Ohio State University, earning his bachelor’s degree in political science in 1981 where he was a member of the football team, coached by the legendary Woody Hayes and Earle Bruce. He was a 3-year varsity letterman for the Buckeyes and played in the 1977 Orange Bowl, 1978 Sugar Bowl, and the 1980 Rose Bowl.
Tom enjoyed a sales career in the pharmaceutical, customs brokerage, and insurance industries. He was a devoted husband and father and enjoyed watching his children as they played soccer, track, lacrosse, and football.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Lynne Blinco; son, Drew Blinco; daughter, Katie (Ryan) Jaworski; granddaughter, Kora; brothers, Edward (Kathleen) Blinco and James Blinco.
A memorial service will be held at 6 P.M. on Thursday, March 31, 2022, at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Road, Akron, Ohio 44319. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 3 P.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
