In loving memory of Theresa M. Shimp, a devoted mother, grandmother, and extremely dedicated Republican, who passed away on July 31, 2023. She was absolutely one-of-a-kind and will forever be remembered for her unwavering love for her children and grandchildren.
A passionate advocate for her political beliefs, Theresa was an extremely dedicated Republican. She closely followed the political landscape, and her admiration for President Donald Trump knew no bounds. She often expressed her support by writing monthly encouraging letters to The President and making weekly calls to WNIR, letting her voice and staunch support for the Republican party be heard.
One of her greatest joys in life was her passion for gardening. With green thumbs and a nurturing spirit, she created a serene oasis in her backyard, filled with vibrant blooms and flourishing vegetables. The hard work she put into it each day brought her great contentment as it fed her family and brought back memories of her farm in Rootstown where she raised her kids.
When it came to the kitchen, Theresa was a culinary genius. Whether it was baking homemade treats or crafting delicious meals, her talents were unmatched. Her cooking skills were legendary, and her kitchen was the heart of family gatherings. Theresa loved Christmas traditions and no matter how she was feeling, she always made hundreds of cookies and built incredibly large stockings for all her closest friends and family. No holiday season was complete without the scent of her homemade food filling the air.
Besides her parents, Theresa was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Carneal. She is survived by her sons, James (Sharon) and Sam (Tori) Shimp; daughter, Holly (Michael) Wilson-Kaim; grandchildren, Matthew and A’mya Blankenship, Hunter, Noah, Zachary, Jacob, and Joseph Shimp, Leah, and Kayla Wilson; sisters, Judith (Jerry) Carneal and Susan (Lawrence) DuBose; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Theresa's kindness, love, and fire will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy lives on with her children, grandchildren, and friends and through the memories we will share over our lifetimes.
