Ryan H Copeland

Ryan Copeland, 42, passed away December 22, 2016 as a result of injuries from a snowmobile accident. 

Ryan was born on January 5, 1974 in Barberton.  He graduated from Green High School in 1992 and from the University of Akron in 1998 Magna Cum Laude with a BS in Mechanical Engineering.  He was employed by the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for 18 years, the last 12 years in the NASCAR Race Tire division.  He was an inveterate do-it-yourselfer and could fix anything, loved the outdoors including gardening, working on his Grandma’s farm, dirt biking, snowmobiling and riding his Harley, and was a great chef (indoors and out).  He and his Dad also spent 23 years satisfying their “need for speed” by drag racing his 1980 Malibu.  But, above all, he spent every possible minute playing with his children and teaching them the joys and realities of life.

He is survived by his loving wife, of 12 years, Maria; their 3 children, Tyler, Vincent and Gina; his parents, Roger and Charlotte Copeland: his sister, Aimee (Tony) Leporis and their children, Colin and Camille; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.   He is also survived by in-laws, Pat and Ron Forsyth; Michael (Michele) Macchiarole and their children, Daniel and Kylie; John (Tonya) Macchiarole and Michael (Paula) Macchiarole and their daughter Carly.

Ryan was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roger (Adele) Copeland and Wilmer (Roberta) Monroe.  

A message to Ryan from his wife and children:

            We met and fell in love at the of 15.  We have an unbreakable bond that was officially sealed on our wedding day July 29, 2004.  We have three beautiful children together, Tyler, Vincent and Gina (“daddy’s baby girl”).  Above all Ryan held his family closest to his heart.  It’s not goodbye daddy, we will see you when the time is right.  We will do our very best to understand that you are now my shining star in heaven and our children’s loving and guiding angel.  Thank you, daddy, for loving us with all your heart. 

The family would like to extend their heart felt gratitude to those who have been there for us in our time of need.              

Family and friends may call from 4 to 8pm on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at the Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd. (SR619), Akron, Ohio 44319.  Mass of a Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church 2952 Edison St NW, Uniontown, Ohio 44685 with Fr. John Zappa officiating.  Burial will be at East Liberty Cemetery, 740 E.
