Obituary

Bob Putt, 86, passed away on October 28, 2022.  He was born October 2, 1936, in Akron to the late Kenneth and Hazel (Bindel) Putt.

Bob graduated from Kenmore High School in 1954.  Bob started his career at age 18 at BF Goodrich as a draftsman.  He then began working at The Ohio Brass Co. in 1955. He served in the Army National Guard from 1961-1964.  He worked his way through college and earned an Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Akron in 1968.  He represented the university as part of an Ohio trade mission with Governor James Rhodes to South America in 1967.  His donated slide rules are part of a display in the Auburn Science and Engineering Center at the University of Akron.  Bob retired from Ohio Brass (now part of Hubble Power Systems) after 44 years of service.

Bob is a long-standing member of Manchester United Methodist Church where he filled many roles including choir director, adult Sunday school teacher, trustee, and treasurer.  He was also treasurer and volunteer for many years for Green Good Neighbors.

Bob was hardworking, fun-loving, and quickly befriended everyone he encountered. He built the family home in 1962 and maintained most items in the house and yard himself his entire life.  He enjoyed traveling with family and friends including many boat trips to the Muskoka’s in Canada.  He showed tremendous love and strength in caring for Audrey full-time after her dementia diagnosis.

Besides his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his son, Jonathan.  He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Audrey Putt; daughters, Jenny (Charles) Smith and Julie Mihuc (Ian Hall); grandchildren, Michael, Nick, and Lauren Smith, and Max Mihuc; twin brother, Richard (Shirley) and brother, James Putt; sister, Diane (Don) Conrad; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
