Richard R. "Ricky" Wiley, II

June 11, 1989 ~ July 17, 2023 (age 34) 34 Years Old

Obituary

Ricky Wiley, 34, passed away on July 17, 2023, and is together again with his son.  Ricky grew up in Green surrounded by a large and loving family. He loved anime, popcorn, snacks, and boating.

Ricky was a kind soul who saved turtles from the road.  He loved dogs, probably more than people, and especially loved his nephew-pup, Fitzgerald (Fitters).  As a child, he loved taking things apart and tinkering with them, a hobby that he always pursued - he could intuitively fix anything on a vehicle.  He was riding a bicycle by the age of 3 and spent his childhood roaming the neighborhood looking for fun, trouble, or perhaps a bit of both.

Ricky spent his high school years outdoors, even during school hours when he forecasted the weather every morning.  His catchphrase began, "Ricky Wiley with the weather…".  Outside of school grounds he spent his time riding dirt bikes and four-wheelers, fixing engines with his friends, and making funny internet videos.  Ricky had the uncanny ability to make people laugh at inappropriate times and during times of grief. His laughter and smile were contagious.

Ricky communicated and expressed his emotions through music. He loved introducing his friends to new music and quizzing them on their musical knowledge.  He had an excellent memory and knew the lyrics to many songs.  Friends and family can contest that many memories of him were held in garages or cars with music blaring loudly.  Most times you could figure out his mood depending on the genre he chose.

Ricky worked for Abrams Contracting for many years as an independent contractor and worked on many homes around the Portage Lakes area.  Many of his friends and family have pieces of his construction talents, as he was always willing to lend his calloused hands out to those who needed them.

Ricky was preceded in death by his son, Lincoln; mom, Patricia (Bryce) Langford; grandpa Mike Kovach; grandpa, Harold Wiley and best friend, Chris Sloan.  Left behind to mourn the loss are his wife, Jessica; daughter, Penelope; sisters, Julie (Chad Rutan) Rose and Emily Wiley; dad, Rick; grandma, Mae Kovach; grandma, Doris Wiley; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends.

Ricky loved his children unconditionally and passed on many of his silly personality traits to Linc and Penny.  He was a dad who was never afraid to get dirty and play hard.
