Dick Hardy, 77, passed away March 9, 2021. He was born April 4, 1943 in Akron to the late Paul and Mildred Hardy. Dick was a 1961 graduate of Hower Vocational High School and went on to work various jobs. His first job was with Goodyear Aerospace as a screen printer. Although he tried other careers, he ultimately returned to screen printing for Grady McCauley, Inc. where he retired in 2008.
Dick was an avid car enthusiast. He enjoyed attending funny car and drag races. He also enjoyed rebuilding old cars into street rods and entering them into cruises and car shows. He was extremely proud of his cars and of his collection of awards and memorabilia. Dick loved listening to music and attending concerts. In his early years, he was passionate about weightlifting and spent hours in the gym. He also loved photography and enjoyed being creative.
Besides his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his son, Michael; brothers, Robert and Ronald and sister, Delores. He is survived by his daughters, Jennifer (Kirk) Parker and Paula Hardy; grandchildren, Evan (Morgan), Olivia, Hannah and Hayden Parker; sisters, Carlene Gaubatz and Shirley Watson; sisters-in-law, Bonnie and Wanda; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Per Richard’s wishes cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made in Richard’s name to a charity of your choice.
