Raymond L. Doan, Jr.

Ray Doan, 68, of Green passed away unexpectedly at home on May 26, 2022, after a successful and courageous battle with cancer.  He was born May 9, 1954, in Portage Lakes to the late Raymond, Sr., and Betty (Bechtel) Doan and was a 1972 graduate of Coventry High School.  Early in his career, Ray worked for several roofing companies including Done by Doan Roofing.  He retired in 2017 as a carpenter for the Akron Public Schools.

Ray loved his Harley and made time for all the motor rallies across the country.  He enjoyed growing tomatoes and playing darts and dominos.  He also enjoyed traveling to Alaska, and Hawaii, and going on a Rhine River cruise. But most of all he loved spending time with his wife at their Florida home.

Besides his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his sisters, Joann and Karen, and mother-in-law, Joyce Longworth.  He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie Longworth Doan; brother, Glenn (Kim) Doan; father-in-law, Tom Longworth; sister-in-law, Renee (Steve) Banner; nephews, Jessie Adams and Shawn (Rachel) Banner; niece, Kristina Banner; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Road, Akron, Ohio 44319 George Reese officiating.  Family and friends may call on Tuesday from NOON until the time of the service at the funeral home.  Interment will take place at Newman Creek Cemetery, North Lawrence, Ohio.  To leave a special message online for the family, visit our website at www.schermesserfh.com.
