Pamela L. (Smith) Tackett

Pamela Tackett, 72, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2022.  She was born June 20, 1949, in Akron, the youngest of three children born to the late Elton and Addie Smith. We take solace in knowing family & friends who have died before her were there to welcome her home.

Pamela was a 1967 graduate of Garfield High School where she was a majorette.  She worked at The University of Akron as a keypunching clerk, Akron Children’s Hospital as a data processing clerk, and Smith Electric as a secretary. 

Pamela bowled in many local area bowling leagues for many years and that tradition carried down to her grandson Tommy. She truly enjoyed spending her vacations listening to and watching the ocean waves and catching the sunrise over the water. Her favorite vacation spot was The Outer Banks, North Carolina. She found joy in her grand-dogs and great grand-dogs. She will forever hold a special place in so many hearts! 

Besides her parents, Pamela was preceded in death by her stepson, Keith Tackett, and beloved family pet Sadie. She is survived by her loving husband of  49 years, Charles Tackett; son, Greg (Patty) Smith; daughter, Amy (Danny) Gleespen; grandchildren, Ryan Tackett, Brandon Tackett, Heather Dixon, Alex Tackett, Tommy Lowry (Lexie Pierce), Heidi Genevish and Emma Smith; brother, Elton “Bill” (Cheryl) Smith, Jr.; sister, Bonnie Lott; cousin, Velma “Sis”(Jim) Teel; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 1 P.M. on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Road, Akron, Ohio 44319 with Pastor Darryl Moulder officiating.  Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 11 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.  Interment will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Park.  To leave a special message online for the family, visit our website at www.schermesserfh.com.
