Nina A. (Vinay) Parnell

Nina Parnell, 72, passed away October 17, 2021.  She was born July 2, 1949 in Akron to the late Stephen and Nina Mae Vinay.  Nina contracted COVID-19, and after 25 days in the hospital bravely battling the disease, the Lord called her home.

Nina was full of energy, passionate about life, and was devoted to her family and friends. She deeply loved her husband, children, and grandchildren; and worked tirelessly to fill her home with joy. Travel and celebrating the holidays were among her favorite things.

Besides her parents, Nina was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Kaylyn; brother, Steve Vinay and sister, Linda Vinay.  She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Michael Parnell; son, Ryan (Dawn) Parnell; daughter, Heather Deastlov; grandchildren, Andrew, Sean, Ian, Emily, Aidan, Lauren and Shannon; great grandson, Kayde; sister, Janis Stancil; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 1 P.M. on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Road, Akron, Ohio 44319 with Pastor Cary Duckett officiating.  Family and friends may call Thursday from 11 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.  Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery.  To leave a special message online for the family, visit our website at www.schermesserfh.com.
