Mary Ellen (Sponseller) Truxell

Mary Ellen Truxell, 85, passed away on May 2, 2022.  She was born September 20, 1936, in Doylestown to the late Dorsey and Mary Ellen (Shea) Sponseller.

Mary Ellen was a loving mother and grandmother. She loved her great-grandchildren dearly and was a special part of her family’s lives. She adored her nieces and nephews, and their children, and made it a point to be involved in their lives. Over the past two months of her life, her nieces Kathy and Betty Ann were especially helpful in ensuring her comfort and helping to care for her until her final hours.

Mary Ellen was a dedicated member of  St. Francis de Sales and enjoyed her role in helping to prepare funeral meals and clean the church. She made dresses for African children and masks during Covid. She always thought of others and did what she could to help those who are less fortunate.

Besides her parents, Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Truxell; 4 brothers, and 3 sisters.  She is survived by her loving son, Keith (Susan) Campbell; grandchildren, Christopher (Emily) Campbell and Stephanie (Justin) Hanke; great-grandchildren, Mason, Austin, William, Nathan, and Connor; many nieces, nephews, and friends; as well as Jack’s children Steve and Toni and their families.

A funeral mass will be held at NOON on Monday, May 9, 2022, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 4019 Manchester Road, Akron, Ohio 44319 with Fr. Jeremy Merzweiler officiating.  Family and friends may call on Monday for 1 hour prior to the mass at the church.  A private family inurnment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Mary Ellen’s name to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
