Mary L. (Adams) Steele

Mary Steele, 96, passed away on April 8, 2022.  She was born February 7, 1926, in Muskingum County, Ohio to the late Clyde and Ruth Adams but lived most of her life in the Green area. 

Mary loved her family and was a cherished mom, grandma, and great-grandma.  Her joy in life was spending time with her family, cooking and baking their favorite meals and desserts.  She was famous for her pies and sugar cookies.  Mary also enjoyed playing cards, sewing, and reading. 

Late in life, Mary found love with Nathan Wellman.  In the 11 years they were together they enjoyed traveling across the United States as well as China.  He brought much joy and adventure to her life that helped keep her young.

Besides her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Homer Steele, and 5 siblings.  She is survived by her son, Paul Steele, and daughter, Connie (Butch) Riggs; grandchildren, Sheri (Steve) Haenftling, Tiffany (Brian) Wise, Nick Steele, Travis Steele, Shannon (Alfredo) Torres, and Lisa (Joel) Robinson; great-grandchildren, Gavin Riggs, Braeden Wise, Micah Robinson, Cameron, and Carter Torres; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 1 P.M. on Friday, April 22, 2022, at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Road, Akron, Ohio 44319.  Family and friends may call on Friday from 11:30 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.  Inurnment will take place at Greensburg Cemetery.  To leave a special message online for the family, visit our website at www.schermesserfh.com.
