Maria Cocirteu

Maria Cocirteu, 92, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away on June 12, 2022. 

Maria was born on October 10, 1929, in Bolvasnita, Romania.  With the help of God, she lived through many hardships and was greatly blessed.  Maria worked the land and raised two sons, Petru and Timotei, with her husband Simion.  She was an integral part of her church and community, living her faith by example.  In 1986 Maria and Simion emigrated from Romania to the United States, following their sons. 

Here Maria continued to be a blessing to her family and the community.  She was blessed with a long life living to see and enjoy her large happy family. 

Maria is preceded in death by her husband of 74 years Simion.  She is survived by her many nieces and nephews, her two sons, Petru (Veronica) and Timotei (Chivuta); her grandchildren, Cosmin (Ruth), Simina (Radu), Christina (Alin), Corina (Daniel), and her nine great grandchildren and their extended families.

Maria's love and devotion to her family will be greatly missed.  We love you 'Mita'.

Funeral service will be held at 10 A.M. on Friday, June 17, 2022, at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Road, Akron, Ohio 44319 with Pastor Valentin Tent officiating.  Family and friends may call on Thursday from 5 to 7 P.M. with a prayer service taking place from 7 to 9 P.M.
