Lois Giesel, 98, passed away May 19, 2020. She was born October 3, 1921 in Evansville, Indiana to the late Hugh and Rosella Smith.
Lois’ greatest pride and passion was her family - especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren. She filled our lives with laughter, fun, caring and always love. Her outgoing personality invited friendship wherever she went. Lois’ many friends will attest to her love of antiques, games, church gatherings and day tripping. Add to that a joy of the outdoors including camping and hiking, reading, baking up a storm and cooking scrumptious meals and her life was well lived. Her lively personality, sense of humor and zest for life created many memories of the heart that will always be with us.
Besides her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Paul H. Giesel, baby daughter and brother Robert Smith. She is survived by son, Paul (Melanie) Giesel; daughter, Carol (Douglas) McRae; 5 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; brother, Hugh “Bud” Smith; sister-in-law, Barbara Smith; as well as many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
Due to the current pandemic a private family service will take place with a burial at Brooklyn Heights Cemetery. If you wish, memorial contributions may be made in Lois’ name to the American Brain Foundation, 201 Chicago Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55415.
