Larry Sullivan, 75, passed away June 2, 2018 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was born in Barberton, Ohio to the late Elvin Sullivan and Eleanor Ashton. Larry graduated from Green High School and The University of Akron. He served two years in the Army during the Vietnam War as an MP, earning a Bronze Star in the Tet Offensive, 1968. Larry worked 24 years at Wright Tool in Barberton, creating their first IT department and then at Stanley Black and Decker in Texas and Connecticut as a systems integrator until retirement. Larry also coached Manchester Pee Wee football for several years.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his grandparents, Emory and Grace Stahl; mother-in-law, Jerry McKown; brother-in-law, Jim Peckens; brother, Dave Shue; and two nephews, Billy Huber and B. J. Ranier. He is survived by his wife, of 50 years, Patricia; children, Nicole (Patrick Abulencia) Sullivan, Doug (Debbie) Miller and Eric (Jeri) Miller; grandchildren, Randall (Addy) Miller, Elissa (Javier) Godinez, Rachel (Logan) Lane, Lauren Miller and Nicholas Miller (fiancée Leslie Brown); two great-grandchildren; brother, Dennis (Linda) Sullivan; sisters, Karen (Bill) Huber, Jan Peckens and Nan (Bill) Harris; and many nieces and nephews. (And we can’t forget his little canine soul mate, Barney.)
Per Larry’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1 to 3 P.M. on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd.
