Karin L. Ivers

Karin Ivers, 73, went home to be with the Lord on January 1, 2021, due to complications related to COVID-19. She was born December 1, 1947 in Akron to the late William and Mary Ivers. 

Karen was the loving mother of Traci (Ted) Davis and Michelle (Tony) Destro. Devoted grandmother of Nicklaus and Lauren Davis and Anthony Destro.

Karin was a passionate and youthful woman with a servant’s heart. She grew up in the Portage Lakes area, often visiting the Rose-Villa restaurant, where her mother worked, then owned. The family attended The Chapel, setting Karin’s foundation as a life-long Christian. When her mother was home bound due to medical conditions, Karin cared for her faithfully for 33 years. At different times in her life, she played the piano at church, taught Sunday school, took gourmet cooking lessons, practiced ceramics, enjoyed holiday decorating and scrap booking, and loved to travel. She earned degrees in both Education and Nursing from the University of Akron. For 35 years, Karin was a Registered Nurse at Summa Akron City Hospital, where she worked as a nursing supervisor.

Karin’s generosity and kindness were evident to those around her, especially her daughters and grandchildren, who she adored and provided for selflessly.   

Funeral service will be held at 1 P.M. on Friday, January 8, 2021 at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd. (SR619), Akron, Ohio 44319.  Family and friends may call on Friday from 11 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home where social distancing and health protocol (i.e. wearing of face covering, staying 6 feet apart, no handshakes or hugs) will be followed.  Interment will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Park.  If you are sick or do not wish to attend, we understand, and all love and prayers will be accepted by visiting our website at www.schermesserfh.com.
