Joyce J. (Haralson) Longworth

Joyce Longworth, 93, joined her Heavenly Father and friends on January 18, 2022 at her home.  Joyce lived her entire life on the lakes.  She attended Coventry schools graduating in 1947.  After school and continuing after graduation, she worked at Longworth Grocery and Custard Stand. She met her husband Tom when he returned from the US Navy in WWII in 1946. They were married January 1, 1949 (73) years. Joyce worked at Sandy Beach Amusement Park in the summers and the M. O’Neil Co in the winters until she had 2 daughters, Debbie and Renee. She enjoyed swimming, boating, ice skating, dancing, golf, bowling, travel and in more recent years she enjoyed playing Dominos with her friends and family. She spent many winters in Florida boating and traveled in summer and fall. Joyce traveled to all 50 states and world travel including Europe, Asia and Australia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Maxine and Jack Haralson, sister Joann Hickey and niece Vicki Bellamy. She is survived by her husband Tom; daughters, Debbie (Ray) Doan and Renee (Steve) Banner; grandchildren, Shawn Banner (fiancé Rachel Wallbrown) and Kristina Banner; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2 P.M. to 3:30 P.M. on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Road, Akron, Ohio 44319.  Social distancing and health protocol (i.e. wearing of face covering, staying 6 feet apart, no handshakes or hugs) will be followed while at the funeral home.  A private family interment will take place at Newmans Creek Cemetery at a later date with Pastor Darryl Moulder officiating.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Joyce’s name to Lakeview Christian Church, 4613 S.
