John L. Pegley

John Pegley, 67, passed away on March 7, 2022.  He was born June 18, 1954, in Morgantown, West Virginia to the late Richard and Frances Pegley.  John grew up in an Italian-Catholic family, growing up serving his church and school as an altar boy, alongside his brother. Through his constant learning, self-improvement, and hard work, he had enjoyed amazing accomplishments in building a home for his family and owning many successful bar and restaurant businesses.

John’s greatest joy in life was watching his kids grow into incredible young adults. He was a sports enthusiast and loved to watch Dominic play football, baseball, and basketball, and Sophia participate in track and basketball as well as attended dances in beautiful gowns. John always encouraged his children to pursue higher education and chase their dreams, no matter how outlandish, he always gave his children his full support and encouragement.

John had a love of fast boats and living on the water. His temper was no surprise to anyone that knew him, it matched his dry sense of humor. John loved to ride his motorcycle, play golf with friends, and travel the world scuba diving in beautiful places such as Australia, Mexico, New Zealand, and other exotic locations.

One thing throughout his life that remained true was the unconditional love that he shared with his beautiful wife Mary. But ultimately, his greatest love of all was his home and his family. He honored his mother-in-law by helping his wife take care and look after her in the last years of her life.

Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Pegley.  He is survived by his wife, Mary Pegley; children, Dominic and Sophia Pegley, nephew, Craig Pegley; niece, Richel Selestow; as well as countless friends.

His laughter, his smile, his hugs, and his touch will forever be missed. We love you dad. I love you John.

Mass of a Christian Burial will be held at NOON on Monday, March 14, 2022, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 4019 Manchester Road, Akron, Ohio 44319 with Fr.
