John McCutcheon, 62, passed away January 11, 2022. He was born August 16, 1959 in Barberton to the late Claude and Norma McCutcheon. John was devoted to his family and friends and dedicated to protecting and serving the public as a Summit County Sheriff Deputy from 1982 to 2007; as well as his brothers and sisters in blue as the FOP President. He would often volunteer his services for funeral escorts as a show of respect to the family from the department.
John had a great sense of humor and could always make you laugh and smile, especially when you needed it. Affectionately referred to as “Zippy” by his close friends and coworkers, John had such fond memories of his friends at CAK and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A heart of gold might have stopped beating, but it did not stop without a fight. His generosity and kindness will forever brighten our broken hearts.
Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother Michael McCutcheon. He is survived by his brothers, Claude (Susan) and Noble Edward (Marquita) McCutcheon; sister, Cynthia Young; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and countless friends.
