Jenny (Howe) Moubray

Jenny Howe Moubray, 87, passed away October 4, 2018. She was born May 5, 1931 in South Shields, County Durham, England to the late John “Jack” and Jane Ann (Crews) Howe.  

Jenny was the youngest of nine children who endured World War II while living in Luton, Bedfordshire, England. The family lost eight relatives to Hitler’s bombs. Jenny joined the Royal Air Force at 18 and was soon posted to Bletchley Park where the code breakers worked. She was later posted to Wiesbaden, West Germany during the Cold War.  It was there she met her loving husband of 58 years, while he was learning British communication equipment as a member of the U.S. Air Force. They married in Wiesbaden and after the birth of their son, the family moved to Lima, Ohio.  Jenny became a proud U.S. citizen five years later.  

Jenny was very outgoing and made friends wherever she lived.  She loved to play bridge with the girls, was always happy to visit garden centers, and never turned down a lunch invitation. She bravely coped with several health issues and never complained. She greatly missed her husband upon his passing in 2012.

Jenny was preceded in death by her husband, Keith; brothers, Ralph and Marshall; sisters, Sarah, Peggy, Jenny, Lillus, Isobelle, and Olive. She is survived by her loving son, Phil (Brenda) Moubray; sister-in-law, Elaine McBride; nieces, nephews in Tennessee, Arizona, and England; as well as many friends. 

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the aides in the Special Care Unit at Greenview Assisted Living and to everyone at Summa Hospice for all the love, compassion and care you gave to Jenny.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Road (SR 619), Akron, Ohio 44319 with Minister Kevin L. Dejournett officiating.  Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 10 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jenny’s name to the American Heart Association, Great Rivers Affiliate, PO Box 15120, Chicago, IL 60693 or the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater East Ohio Area Chapter, 70 W.
