Through the Lord’s gracious mercy, Jim Grigas was taken home on November 6, 2022. He was born on February 28, 1949, in Akron to the late Walter and June (Byers) Grigas. Jim grew up in Akron and was a graduate of Firestone High School where he played football and was on the track team.
Jim attended the University of Akron where he received a degree in Commerce and Sales and a degree in Merchandising. He was also a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. While attending classes at the university, Jim started working for Ohio Edison as a meter reader. Over his 36-year career at Ohio Edison, Jim held several accounting positions and was named Superintendent of Accounting Credits and Collections in 1980 at the Marion Office. Later, he was transferred to Akron and became the Director of Business Services before retiring in 2006.
Jim spent his retirement years doing what he loved most; golfing, spending time with his daughters, and never missing his grandkids' games. He was a true Cleveland sports fan and loved watching The Ohio State Buckeyes and The Cleveland Browns.
Besides his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his nephew, Adam Grigas. He is survived by his best friends and brothers, Joe and John (Donna) Grigas; daughters, Angie (Aaron) Hinkle, Jessica (Joe) Aemmer, Cindy (Aaron) Brown, and Amy Barker; former wife of 25 years, Marianne Grigas; grandchildren, Wyatt, Bryce, Evelyn, Grady, and Klay Hinkle, Joey, Lexi, and Ellie Aemmer, Matt, Tyler, and Justin Brown, Madeleine, and Harry Barker.
