Howard Evans, 74, lost a lengthy battle with heart disease on August 22, 2021 and is now resting in peace with the Lord. He was born June 1, 1947 in Akron, Ohio to the late Howard and Frances Evans. Hutch graduated from Kenmore High School in 1965 and from the University of Akron in 1969. At a young age, he obtained an amateur radio license, beginning his lifelong passion for electronics and wireless communication. After 25 years of dedicated service to the City of Akron, Hutch retired in 2004 as a supervisor within the Communications Division. In the workplace, he was widely known and highly respected for his strong work ethic, problem-solving skills, and technical knowledge.
Hutch was also an avid hobbyist of model trains and remote-control airplanes. This enthusiasm ultimately led him to establish a hobby shop, where he has been able to share his love and knowledge with the Akron community over the last thirty years.
However, above all else, Hutch's greatest strengths and accomplishments came from his role as a husband and father. His devotion and dedication to his family was everlasting and unparalleled. Hutch's honesty and dependability made him an outstanding husband, and he made his wife laugh every single day. He was tremendously proud of his two sons, and this was often apparent during even the shortest of conversations with him.
Hutch is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 34 years, Lonnie Evans; sons, Ronald (Ann) Evans and Michael (Andrea) Evans; and many extended family members and close friends. While we will miss him dearly, we find solace in knowing that he is safe in God's care and that his spirit lives on through the lives that he touched.
