Harold Guthrie Sr, 93, passed away on October 24, 2021. He was born February 14, 1928 in Clinton to the late Robert and Lauretta Guthrie. Harold attended schools in Green and was a 1946 graduate of Garfield High School.
He attended Akron U!, was in the US Naval Air Reserves, and worked for Firestone for 44 years until retirement. He was a Mason and was involved in Scouting. He enjoyed camping and fishing with family, playing cards with friends, and gardening. Harold attended Maranatha Bible Church and was a member of the Salt Sunday school class. He loved and enjoyed his family.
In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his loving wife of 70 years, Peggy; brother, Richard “Dick” Guthrie. He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Robert (Rita), Donald (Cathy), Harold Jr. (Janet) Guthrie; 9 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; special daughter-in-law, Marcia Eastman; sister, Janice (Dave) Cariens of Virginia; brother-in-law, Albert (Mary) Hennessey of Tennessee; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd. (SR619), Akron, Ohio 44319 with Pastor Ron Shultz officiating. Family and friends may call on Saturday from 10 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will take place on a later date at Clinton Cemetery.
