Georgiana Colvin Obituary

Georgiana Colvin, 81, passed away on December 6, 2023.  She was born in Barnesboro, Pennsylvania on November 18, 1942, to the late Sarah Romano and her husband.

Georgiana graduated from Kenmore High School in 1960 and worked in the office of Firestone Tire & Rubber Company as a Secretary.  While at Firestone, she met her husband, Dudley Colvin, and they married in 1966. At the beginning of their marriage, they lived in several different places due to her husband’s work.  These locations included Connecticut, where their first daughter, Kristen was born, and Southwest Ohio, where their second daughter, Lauren was born.  They eventually made their way back to Northeast Ohio, where they lived in Hartville, then Uniontown, and ultimately, in their “cottage” on Portage Lakes.  Once back in Northeast Ohio, Georgiana earned her degree as a Court Stenographer.  She thoroughly loved her work as a Legal Secretary and retired from the Akron law firm of Buckingham, Doolittle Burroughs in June 2006.

Georgiana took pride in running their home and sought perfection in every meal she prepared.  When the need arose, she would provide meals for neighbors and friends. She touched the hearts of anyone lucky enough to meet her.

Georgiana loved games.  She and her husband, Dudley, played thousands of games of Scrabble while enjoying their lunch or dinner.  She made it a point to get together with her friends and spend the afternoon playing a variety of games including Euchre, Five Crowns, and 31.  And, there was rarely a family get-together that did not involve a deck of cards!

There was nothing in the world that made Georgiana prouder than her daughters and their husbands, grandchildren, including Lori, and great-grandchildren.  She loved to share the story of how her daughters, granddaughters, and great-granddaughters carried her middle name.  A legacy that will live on for generations. She also shared a special bond with her only grandson, Nick, that allowed them to have a relationship like no other.

Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Georgiana knew that she adored and, more importantly, respected her mother, Sarah Romano.  Her mother was her inspiration in life, and she followed her path until the end.  Her family and friends can take comfort in knowing that they are together again.

Her smile was the most beautiful smile in the world and will be the focus of every memory we carry with us in our hearts. She will be dearly missed but will continue to provide love, guidance, strength, and inspiration to her loved ones.

Georgiana is survived by her husband of 57 years, Dudley Colvin; daughters, Kristen (Todd) Popovic and Lauren (Troy) Hudkins; grandchildren, Grace, Katie, and Anna Popovic, Nick (Lori) Hesson and Alaina Hudkins; great-grandchildren, Victoria and Niko Hesson; sisters Kathy (Lloyd) Huhn and Delores (Lenny) Klein, as well as many other extended family and special friends.

Per Georgiana’s request, there will be no formal services. Her family gathered on the day of her death and held a private memorial.  A celebration of her life will take place in the Spring for extended family and friends.
