Gary E. Muster

Gary Muster, 67, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2021 surrounded by his family.  He was born on August 22, 1953 in Akron to the late Warren and Doris Muster.  Gary was a 1971 graduate of Garfield High School and worked as a custodian for 38 years at Akron Public Schools, was a member of The Portage Lakes Eagles and The American Legion Riders Post 566. 

Gary was a devoted husband, dad and grandpa.  He never met a stranger and loved spending time with his family and friends.  He enjoyed camping, fishing, and motorcycle riding.  He will always be remembered for The Muster Pig Roasts, Muster pizza, peanut butter fudge and telling dad jokes.

Besides his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his brothers, Charlie and Kenny Muster and sister-in-law Cathie Mattucci. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Fran Muster; son, Gary W. E. Muster; daughters, Michalyn (Geoff) Ross and Sara (Cori) May; grandchildren, Grady, Owen and baby May due in November; sister, Cheri (Kenny) Cradlebaugh; sister-in-law, Karen Muster, brothers-in-law, Terry and David Striff, special aunt and uncle; many nieces, nephews, other family members and wonderful friends.

Funeral service will be held at 7 P.M. on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd. (SR619), Akron, Ohio 44319.  Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 4 P.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home where social distancing and health protocol (i.e. wearing of face covering, staying 6 feet apart, no handshakes or hugs) will be followed.  Memorial contributions may be made in Gary’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.  To leave a special message, share a memory or add a photo for the family, visit our website at www.schermesserfh.com.
