Bud Falkner, 86, passed away on April 12, 2022. He was born May 3, 1935, in Akron to the late Forrest, Sr., and Caroline Falkner. Bud was a graduate of Buchtel High School and proudly served in the U.S. Army. He worked for the Summit County Sheriff’s Department for a short time then took over “Old Reliable Sign Company” from his dad. He lettered the Pepsi trucks and as a sign artist, painted the picture for the Akron University E. J. Thomas building before it was built. Bud was always with his Doberman companions, Diesel II and Ruby. He loved to work on cars and help his friends and neighbors.
Bud was very blessed to have reliable friends who came to his aid when he called including Sandy, Greg, son-in-law Garry, and many others. His thoughtfulness and generosity will be missed by all.
Besides his parents, Bud was preceded in death by his wife Portia; son, Forrest III, “Skip”; brother, Paul, and sisters, Jeannie Kreiger, Audrey Dunivant, Donna Meyers, Vickie Falkner. He is survived by his sons, Gordon and Daniel (Vesa) Falkner; daughters, Sherree (Garry) Cowden and Cynthia (Doug) Palm; grandchildren, Roxanne, Justin, Joshua, Brandy (Justin), Danielle (Brandon), Mike (Sue), Jefferey (Heather), Brittany (Edward), Russell (Kasey), Joseph (Lauren); 14 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call on Monday, April 18, 2022, from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Road, Akron, Ohio 44319.
