Evelyn "Evie" M. (Giltz) Conley

Evie Conley, 88, passed away March 24, 2021.  She was born August 29, 1932 in Massillon to the late Gordon and Mary Giltz.  Evie had more “kids” than biologically possible. All the friends of her five children adored her and, more importantly respected her.

Evie loved to bowl and to golf. But truly loved to plan where to eat and “beverage” after with her friends. She was a Cleveland Indians fan since the days of doubleheaders every Sunday, with her beloved Jim Hegan behind the plate. In the last few years, one of her true joys was Friday Night Steak Night at the Akron FOP.

Besides her parents, Evie was preceded in death by her brother, Ronald and sister, Lois.  She is survived by sons, Mark (Mary), Matthew and Michael Conley; daughters, Catherine (Chris) Mann and Colleen (Tom) Shade; grandchildren, Chris (Meagan) Conley, Melissa (Corey) Fletcher, Lucas (Natasha) Conley, Renee Stevwing, Bridget and Brandon Shade; 7 great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Conley; as well as best friend for over 60 years,  Vivien Parham.

They family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Heather Knoll, Green Village and Crossroads Hospice for the love and care they provided to us and our mom for so many years.

Funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. on Monday, March 29, 2021 at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd. (SR619), Akron, Ohio 44319.  Family and friends may call on Sunday from 1 P.M. to 5 P.M. at the funeral home where social distancing and health protocol (i.e. wearing of face covering, staying 6 feet apart, no handshakes or hugs) will be followed.  Inurnment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery at a later date.  To leave a special message online for the family, visit our website at www.schermesserfh.com.
