Obituary

Ed Rockich, 85, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2023, surrounded by his family.  He was born on June 2, 1938, in Barberton to the late Samuel and Lena Rockich.

Ed grew up in Barberton where he raised his four children, The Four A’s, with love and lots of laughs.  Ed worked almost 40 years for URS (formerly Dalton, Dalton, Little-Newport) as a Civil Senior Designer following in his big brother, Richard’s, footsteps.

Ed loved playing golf, watching the Browns, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.  During his early life, he spent a few years in Arizona and California which sparked his interest in Route 66. He spent his later years exploring maps, traveling, and watching anything that documented the search for Bigfoot.  Mostly, our dad will be remembered for his kindness to everyone and his quick wit that was always sure to bring a smile to anyone within earshot.

Besides his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his brother, Richard.  He is survived by his sons, Adam (Tera) and Tony (Elisa) Rockich; daughters, Amber (Jack) Coppenger and Autumn (Glenn) Vavoso; grandchildren, Logan, Luke, Levi, Enzo, Issac, Noah, Spencer (Austyn), Madison (Bryan), Bailey, and Analisa; Great grandchildren, Finn, Max, Myles, Audrey and Anthony; brother, Sam Rockich; sister-in-law, Pat Rockich; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral service will be held at NOON on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at the Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Road, Akron, Ohio 44319 with Greg Rockich officiating.  Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 10 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.  Interment will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Ed’s name to help homeless veterans with donations to the Valor Home of Summit County, c/o Family and Community Services, 705 Oakwood Street, STE 221, Ravenna, Ohio 44266.  To leave a special message for the family, visit our website at www.schermesserfh.com.
