Ed Masuga, 90, passed away on January 26, 2023. He was born in Akron on November 27, 1932. A graduate of Garfield High School, he was a natural-born athlete lettering in multiple sports. Ed was a skilled machinist by trade, retiring from Goodyear Aerospace (Meggitt ABS) after 46 years of service.
In his spare time, Ed enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working on his 1948 Willy’s Jeepster. He also served many years as a Volunteer Fireman for the City of Green and volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America.
Ed was preceded in death by his siblings, Lawrence “Sonny” Masuga, Mary Logan, and Julia Petkanich. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Ellen; daughters, Cathy (George) Sesock, Laura (Brent) Philbrook, and Paula (Tom) Adam; grandchildren, Kaitlin (Mike) Simna, Colleen (Ray) Bertka, Tucker and Cain Philbrook and A.J. Adam; great-granddaughter, Palmer Bertka; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
A private funeral service was held with an interment at East Liberty Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made in Ed’s name to South Arlington United Methodist Church, 790 S.
