Edward L. Gaskill

Ed Gaskill, 86, passed away January 20, 2020.  He was born August 1, 1933 in Akron to the late Elmer and Mary Jane Gaskill.  After spending his teenage years in St. Pete Florida, he moved back home to Akron where he met and married the love of his life Gloria Moran. They were married 44 years until her passing in 1997. Together, they had 3 children and an ongoing number of grand children and great grandchildren that they loved dearly.

Ed was in the drafting and designing field and eventually obtained his Professional Surveyors license. Soon after, he started Gaskill & Associates and it became one of the most sought-after surveying companies in Summit county.  Ed was most proud of his time spent with the Portage Lakes Kiwanis group becoming and representing as Ohio’s Lt. Governor for 2 years. As president, he helped spearhead and complete the Portage Lakes Kiwanis Senior Citizens Housing Complex. He enjoyed visiting with the residents this past year. Ed’s ability to show love, strength, leadership, compassion and understanding all in the same conversation, while giving sound biblical advice to us all when needed, will be missed by his family and those who knew him.

Besides his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria and brother, Bill.  He is survived by his sons, Richard and Randy Gaskill, daughter, Deanna (John) Langford; grandchildren, LeaAnn (Ron) Humphrey, Danelle (Steve) Wahunick, Steven (Elizabeth) Langford, Michael Langford, Kara (Nick) Donatelli, Krista (Donnie) Boyer and Michael (Lisa) Gaskill; 16 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sisters, Janice (Ken) Willett and Cheryl (Frank) Flethcher; as well many nieces, nephews and friends.                                

A memorial service will be held at 2 P.M. on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd. (SR619), Akron, Ohio 44319.  Family and friends may call on Saturday from NOON until the time of the service at the funeral home.  Inurnment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery at a later date.  To leave a special message online for the family, visit our website at www.schermesserfh.com.
