Edward Efaw, 92, passed away on January 17, 2023. He was born on September 5, 1930, in Mannington, West Virginia to the late Clarence and Stella Efaw.
Edward worked as a mechanic and loved bluegrass music. He was well known as “Beanpole” a legendary bluegrass musician and promoter. Above all, he was a faithful and devoted Christian and a member of the Massillon Church of Christ. He was greatly admired and loved by all.
Besides his parents, Edward was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dora; sons-in-law, Randy Harper and Don Edgell. He is survived by his children, Larry (Lisa) Efaw, Doris Efaw, Shirley Edgell, Carris (Carol) Efaw, Patti (Bill) Grass, and Lola Efaw; 11 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; as well as many other family and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 1 P.M. on Friday, January 20, 2023, at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Road, Akron, Ohio 44319 with Rick Kelly officiating. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 6 to 8 P.M. Interment will take place at East Liberty Cemetery.
