Jim Holda, Ph.D., 65, passed away July 27, 2019. He was born April 15, 1954, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Harry and Catherine Holda. Jim was a professor at the University of Akron for 32 years, educating an entire generation of students in the healthcare field. His work has been instrumental in the comfort and healing of thousands. His impact will far and forever survive him. Jim enjoyed spending time with his family, watching baseball, reading, and riding his bicycle. He was a history buff, as well as an avid fan of Groucho Marx, the Three Stooges, Abbott and Costello, and other black and white classic films.
Jim is survived by his wife, Sheri; sons, Ben Holda and Andy (Courtney) Janish; daughter, Jamie Janish; sister, Kathleen (Karl) Carter; grandchildren, Bentley, Chase, and Olivia; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1:30 to 4:30 P.M. on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at the Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Road (SR619), Akron, Ohio 44319. A memorial service will take place at 4:30 P.M. with Pastor Jeffrey Hancock officiating. Private inurnment will take place at Glendale Cemetery in Akron, Ohio.
