Doris Maxine (Vasbinder) Finical

Maxine Finical, 97, passed away on February 5, 2024.  She was born May 12, 1926, in Cadiz, Ohio to the late Charles and Ada Vasbinder.

Maxine was a graduate of Cadiz High School where she was a flag girl in the marching band, played intramural basketball, and spent lots of time with her childhood sweetheart and future husband. She was an avid gardener and loved all animals, especially her many dogs and cats. Maxine was a faithful volunteer at AGMC in Akron for 35 years. She also volunteered at Lockwood U.M. Church, where she was a member, serving countless meals and helping in the nursery. Maxine also volunteered at the Summit Co. Humane Society.

Along with her parents, Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Finical; brothers, Arthur and Richard Vasbinder and sisters, Cleo Kanouff and Ann Olin. She is survived by her loving children, Paula (Dave) Ball; Steve (Alison) Finical; grandchildren Andrew (Heather) Denchik; Angela (Chris) Prueter; Patrick Finical; Stephanie (Ben) Adams; great-grandchildren Claire, Connor, and Reid Denchik; Julian and Theodore Prueter; Rory, Ronan and Seamus Adams as well as many other family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 3 P.M. on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Road, Akron, Ohio 44319.  Family and friends may call on Saturday from 1 P.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.  An inurnment will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date.  Memorial contributions can be made in Maxine’s name to the Humane Society of Summit County, 7996 Darrow Road, Twinsburg, Ohio 44087.  To leave a special message for the family, visit our website at www.schermesserfh.com.
