Don Sears, 77, passed away January 27, 2020. He was born June 12, 1942 in Columbus to the late David and Wanda Sears.
Don spent most of his early life in Groveport, Ohio, and at his family’s lake house at nearby Buckeye Lake during the summer months, where he would meet his future wife when they were just young children. He became a Sergeant E5 in the US Marine Corp where he served from 1963 to 1967 and is a Vietnam Veteran who proudly displayed his status as a former soldier for his entire life. He also loved to laugh, traveled all over to watch car races and visit Civil War battlefields, and enjoyed watching just about any sporting event that was on TV at any time. He and his wife spent much of their adult lives raising their two children in the Memphis, Tennessee area, before moving to California for several years, and eventually making their way back to their native Ohio. Don would also endlessly talk about the accomplishments of his two children, and two grandchildren, whenever anyone would give him that opportunity.
Besides his parents, Don was preceded in death by his sister, June Ellen. He is survived by his loving wife, Betty; son, Tom (Colleen) Sears; daughter, Tina (Bob) Piks; grandchildren Cole and Courtney Sears; as well as many other family and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 6 P.M. on Wednesday, January 29, 2019 at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd. (SR619), Akron, Ohio 44319.
