Donald L Day

Don Day, 83, passed away on January 16, 2023.  He was born on July 22, 1939, in Elkins, West Virginia to the late Clyde and Birdie Day.  Don was a graduate of North High School and received a degree from Ashland University in 1990.  Don retired from UPS after many years following retirement Don and his wife, Pat, were owners of an A & W Rootbeer stand.    

Don was an avid outdoorsman, loved to travel, and was a great father.  He was very protective of his 3 girls.  They were treated like the sons he never had by dragging them hunting, fishing, and skeet shooting like the best of them.  He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.  Don’s words will forever be remembered… “I’ll give you some wisdom”.

Along with his parents, Don was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 63 years, Pat Day; brother, Delmas Day and great-granddaughter, Olivia. He is survived by his daughters, Jackie (Craig) Carris, Kim Cantwell, and Barb Reynolds (Rory Gangle);  grandchildren, Derrick (Tiffani) Athey, Midge (Joe) Asher, Chase (Lauren) Carris, Madison (Mark) Bint, Jordan Reynolds, Jillian (Sam) Campbell, and Jade Reynolds; great-grandchildren; Joseph, Aris, Estelle, Walter, Easton, Cruz, and Trenton.

A celebration of life will be held from 1 P.M. to 2:30 P.M. on Sunday, January 22, 2023, at the Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E.
