Dolores E. "Dee" Kiel

Dee Kiel, age 97. Beloved wife of the late Arthur Kiel. Dee lived in State College, PA, for the last eight years after Art's passing, to be close to family.

Dee is survived by her sons David (Diana), Jerry (Chris), and Don (Mary Lou), seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Raised on a farm in Spencer, WI, Dee moved to Chicago where she worked in the insurance field and fell in love with Arthur who became her husband of 67 years. Art went to work for Goodyear Aircraft, and they moved to Akron where they raised their three sons. Dee was active at her church, serving for many years as record-keeper for the Sunday School. She also worked as a Summit County Board of Elections staffer, serving for 25+ years at her local polling location.  More than anything else, Dee checked every box for being the ideal wife and mother.

A memorial service will be held at 11 A.M. on Monday, September 25, 2023, at Hope Lutheran Church, 999 Portage Lakes Drive, Akron, Ohio 44319 with Rev. Jack Kozak officiating. Family and friends may call on Sunday, September 24, 2023, from 1 to 3 P.M. at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Road, Akron, Ohio 44319, or for one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Interment will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.  Memorial contributions can be made in Dolores’ name to Hope Lutheran Church or to the American Cancer Society, ATTN: RFL Centre County, PO Box 862, Carnegie, PA 15106.
