Delores D. McCoy

Delores McCoy, 87, departed this world on November 24, 2021.  She was a 1951 graduate of Barberton High School and lived her entire life in the area.

Our Mom was a stay at home mom most of the time, although her many talents kept her busy and working.  She was a seamstress, creating beautiful upholstered furniture, custom draperies, costumes for many school productions and anything else she imagined or wherever she was needed.  Mom was a partner to our Dad in designing and building homes in Barberton.  Their teamwork was a wonderful energy to behold!  Mom enjoyed the work and kept it all flowing - making sure contractors showed up, met their deadlines, and did their work according to the blueprints she designed. 

Away from home, over the years, she worked in sales at the Mothercare in Rolling Acres Mall, inventorying automotive products at the ACME Click stores, and selling fabric at a locally owned store.  She loved meeting new people, helping her customers and making many friends along the way.

Mom was always there to support our family in any way that she could.  She was a loving person who loved being a wife, mom and grandma. Mom you will be deeply missed.  Your joy, warmth, love and humor made the world a better place.  We Love You!

Delores joins the love of her life, husband, Robert McCoy; son-in-law, John DeRose and sisters, Shirley Harrell and Ellen Darlak.  She will be missed by her children, Thomas McCoy, Lindee DeRose and Laura (Gregory) Taylor; grandchildren, Liam and Cecilia; sisters, Louise (James) Holt and Lucille (Robert) Deans; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Per Delores’ wishes cremation has taken place.  A memorial inurnment and balloon release will be held at 1:30 P.M. on January 5, 2022 at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 2580 Romig Road, Akron, Ohio 44320 with Pastor Robin Hart officiating.  To leave a special message online for the family, visit our website at www.schermesserfh.com.
