Candace F. (Simms) Rossiter

Candace Rossiter, 73, passed away on February 16, 2023.  She was born on November 18, 1949, in Akron and was a 1967 graduate of Green High School.

Candace was a dedicated mother to her 3 sons and worked hard to raise them and make sure they had everything they needed. She treasured her children and cherished every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Grandma when grandchildren came along.

Candace loved caring for children and later in life, she was lucky enough to make this her job. She always had a houseful of kids including her grandchildren. Most of the kids can remember her classic phrase of “you’re fine” along with the love and care she showed all of them.  She always was the first to grab a screaming baby and within minutes would have him/her quiet.  Many of the children she watched over the years still fondly call her Grandma Candy.

Besides her parents, Olga and Jake Simms, Candace was preceded in death by her sister, Sharon Cladas. She is survived by her 3 loving sons, Bryan (Donna), Todd, and Matthew Rossiter; grandchildren, Lindsey (Justin) Oliver, Logan, Andrew, Lane, and Brandon (Rylee) Rossiter; sisters, Jackie Neill, Susan (Jim) Wagner; brothers, Steve (Judy) Simms and Jerry Lee (Susie) Simms, Butch (Becky) Hart; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

We would like to extend a special thanks to the wonderful doctors and nurses at Seidman Cancer Center who provided invaluable care to Mom for the last 2 years. 

Mom was a strong, determined, and fiercely independent woman. We will miss her every day.
