Brian D. Lay

Brian Lay, 44, passed away on August 13, 2023. He was born on February 15, 1979, to Sandra Lay and Donald (Geri) Lay in Barberton and has lived there for most of his life and considered it to be home. Brian attended Barberton High School and was known for his intelligence and knowledge of many subjects. He often made the Dean’s list while attending the University of Akron. 

Brian had the ability to light up a room and make everyone around him laugh. He loved his children and was a very proud father. He cherished his partner in life, Jamie, and their dog Loki. Brian will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Along with his parents, Brian is survived by his daughter, Alyssa Lay; sons, Brandon and Nathan Lay; sisters, Stacey (Robert) Hogenmiller, Carla (Scott) Data, and Kimberly Munson; step-brother, Christopher Holder; longtime girlfriend, Jamie Curtis; nephews; Alexander, Chandler, Robert, Michael, Kenneth, Kyle, and Jaxson; niece, Mikaela; as well as many aunts, uncle, and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Eunice Smith, Eugene Lemasters, Birdie, and Edgar Lay.

Funeral service will be held at 4 P.M. on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E.
