Elaine Phillips, 90, passed from death unto life on March 28, 2022. She was born on September 13, 1931, in Akron to the late Ira and Mary Kirby. Elaine was ready to be ushered into eternity to meet her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ after a long and blessed life. She was a godly, faithful lady who loved singing in the church choir at Akron Baptist Temple for many years. Elaine was known for her sweet, gentle spirit that never had a harsh word to say. She was an incredible servant that showed the love of Jesus in all she did. Elaine was soft-spoken, but a woman of great faith. Through life, she most enjoyed her family, gardening, baking, singing, playing the piano, gospel quartet music, and reading her bible.
Besides her parents, Elaine was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Glenn, and sister, Norma Jean Black. She is survived by her daughter, Joyce (Duane) Matthews; granddaughters, Misty (Derek) Woodrum and Megan (Rick) Lafferty; great-grandchildren, Zac (Rachel), Mackenzie, Hayley, Darin, Warren, Kyle and Kenneth; as well as nieces, nephews and other family.
