Barbara L. (Gansen) Hamblin

September 28, 1952 ~ July 13, 2022 (age 69)

Obituary

Barb Hamblin, 69, of North Canton passed away unexpectedly on July 13, 2022.  She was born in Akron, Ohio on September 28, 1952, to the late Merle and Marjorie Gansen.  Barb graduated from Green High School in 1971 where she met her husband, Kurt.  They married in 1972 and started a family with the birth of their daughter, Jodi, in 1977.  Together in 1980, they moved to Anaheim, California where they had their son, Scott.  They moved back to Ohio in 1989 for work and to be closer to their families.  They watched their children graduate from high school and then college and start families of their own.

After Kurt’s retirement from Berry Global (Cardinal Packaging) in Streetsboro, Barb and Kurt moved south to North Fort Myers, Florida, and spent their retirement in between both Ohio and Florida. Barb enjoyed her retirement in Florida surrounded by many friends and the many events, driveway parties, dinners, and classic car shows that became part of their regular routine. She was looking forward to celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in September 2022.

To those who were fortunate enough to get to know her, Barb was a very giving and loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, friend, and neighbor - living her life always treating others with compassion and respect, she was well known as a reasonable, reliable listener for anyone who sought advice from her.  She was very proud of the professional accomplishments of her husband and children that would not have been possible without her efforts and dedication as an encouraging and supportive wife and mother and she very much enjoyed celebrating those successes.

Barb was a consistent supporter of many animal rights charities including the Golden Retrievers in Need Rescue Service (GRIN) and the Stark County Humane Society having many dogs of her own and grand dogs to love over the years.

In addition to her parents, Barb was preceded in death by her brother, Tim Gansen.  She is survived by her loving husband, Kurt Hamblin, daughter, Jodi (Eric) Ludwick; son, Scott (Michelle) Hamblin; granddaughter, Amanda Ludwick; brothers, Terry and Mike Gansen; as well as many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at 7 P.M. on Thursday, July 21, 2022, at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E.
