Audrey Putt, 83, passed away on October 10, 2023. She was born August 5, 1939, in Akron to the late Forrest and Audrey (Justice) Pratt. Audrey graduated from Buchtel High School in 1957 and received a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics from the University of Akron in 1961.
Audrey is a long-standing member of Manchester United Methodist Church where she led the hospitality team for many years. She was also a volunteer at Akron Children’s Hospital including the local Together with Important Goals (TWIG) group which developed craft ideas and packaged individual kits delivering them to patients and assisting them with their projects. She also provided leadership and support for the annual Holiday Tree Festival, a large fundraiser for the hospital.
Audrey was an outstanding seamstress making most of the family’s clothing (even coats!) for a number of years. She then applied these skills to her home making curtains, reupholstering furniture, and decorating. She applied her creative skills to many types of crafts. She also enjoyed cooking and entertaining for family and friends. She enjoyed family hikes at the Summit Metro Parks earning an annual hiking shield along with her husband Bob and family. She also enjoyed traveling with family and friends including many boat trips to the Muskoka’s in Canada.
Besides her parents, Audrey was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Robert “Bob”; son, Jonathan and her sister-in-law Shirley Putt. She is survived by daughters, Jenny (Charles) Smith and Julie Mihuc (Ian Hall); grandchildren, Michael, Nick, and Lauren Smith, and Max Mihuc; brothers-in-law, Richard and James Putt; sister-in-law, Diane (Don) Conrad; as well as many cousins in Dover, Ohio and nieces, nephews, and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at the Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Road, Akron, Ohio 44319. Family and friends may call on Saturday from 10 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home. A private inurnment will take place at Manchester Cemetery.
