Arlene M. Jerin Foss

Arlene Jerin Foss, 85, passed away on September 10, 2022.  She was born on April 6, 1937, in Cleveland to Ralph and Mildred Bennett.  Arlene and Jerry raised their family in Green, Ohio, and remained a ‘Bulldog’ for the rest of her life.

Arlene was a proud employee of Schott International for many years and retired in 2006. She was an avid Green High Bulldog football fan and could be found on the 40-yard line proudly shouting, “Go Green!” In November 1998, Arlene was inducted into the Green Youth Football Hall of Fame.  She was a member of The First Baptist Church of Green and was active in her community by volunteering at Green Good Neighbors. She was part of the original “Green Golden Girls”, coined by the Suburbanite through her love of traveling.

In Arlene’s honor, gather your children and grandchildren for a home-cooked meal on Sunday and enjoy life as she would; playing Uno, rooting for your favorite football team, and loving your family, unconditionally.

Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Jerin, and granddaughter, Deanna Jerin. She is survived by her brother, Richard (Lydia) Bennett; sister-in-law, Dorothy Jerin; her loving children, Gerry (Bob) Bartlebaugh, David Jerin, Dan Jerin, and Craig (Jennifer) Jerin; her spoiled grandchildren, Angela (Norman) Johnston, Cassandra (Audie) Myers, Amy (Jeff) Hunt, Amanda (Stephen) Gavolas, Gerald Jerin, and Alex Jerin; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews. Arlene married Lee Foss later in life and he preceded her in death. She is also survived by stepchildren; Jim, DonnaJean (Dave), Dan (JimmyLee), and Joy (Mark).

A funeral service will be held at 1 P.M. on Thursday, September 15, 2022, at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Road, Akron, Ohio 44319 with Pastor Kenneth Lowe officiating.  Family and friends may call on Thursday from 10 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.  Interment will take place at East Liberty Cemetery.  To to leave a special message for the family, visit our website at www.schermesserfh.com.
