Anna Blackie, 95, passed away on February 20, 2023. She was born May 12, 1927, in Mogadore to the late Spencer and Margaret Carr. Anna was a 1945 graduate of East High School and worked as a secretary at General Tire. Anna and her husband helped establish the Uniontown Episcopal Church (now New Life Episcopal Church). They were also past members of St. Andrews and St. Peters Episcopal Churches.
Anna met her loving husband, Walter, while roller skating, and together they built 2 different homes and raised their 5 beautiful children. She was a loving and gentle woman that cherished her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who affectionately called her “Grandma Chuckie”.
Anna loved to cook, bake, sew, do crafts, hike, and read. She enjoyed card club and bowling with her friends on leagues; as well as family vacations on Houghton Lake, road trips, and being a Girl Scout Leader. But most of all, she loved her family and made every day, especially the holidays, special for them. Anna made the world a better place by always making time, keeping the faith, sharing wisdom, showing patience, giving joy, and living love. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Besides her parents, Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Blackie; son, Thomas; granddaughter, Sharon Kehl; great-granddaughter, Sophia Polacheck; sisters, Phyllis (John) Lower, Francis (Jim) Skinner, and Janice (Henry) Centea; son-in-law, Larry Strouble. She is survived by her sons, Gary and David Blackie; daughters, Pamela Strouble and Marlene (Don) Polacheck; grandchildren, Lanier (Elizabeth), Mckinley, Gregory and Grayson Blackie, Denise (Matt) Fiegenschuh, Lisa (Carl) Ammon, Jennifer (Chad) Weaver, Chris (Karyn) Polacheck, Kristina (Noah Johnston) Polacheck, Josh and Gianna Glassner; great-grandchildren, Ben and Brooke Fiegenschuh, Cora and Connor Wines, Christian, Carter, and Cole Weaver and Ava Polacheck; daughter-in-law, Cathy (Rod) Blackie-Glassner; as well as many nieces, nephews and other loving family members.
The family would like to thank the staff of Harmony Cares for the love and care they provided “Miss Anna”.
